North River Steamboat
The North River Steamboat was an early American steamboat launched in 1809. It was designed by engineer Robert Fulton and was notable for being one of the first successful steamboats to operate on the Hudson River. The vessel played a significant role in demonstrating the viability of steam-powered transportation on inland waterways.
The North River Steamboat was approximately 150 feet long and could carry passengers and cargo efficiently. Its successful operation helped pave the way for the expansion of steamboat travel across the United States, influencing commerce and travel in the early 19th century.
