Norms and Values
Norms are the unwritten rules and expectations that guide behavior within a group or society. They dictate what is considered acceptable or unacceptable, influencing how individuals interact with one another. For example, in many cultures, it is a norm to greet others with a handshake or a smile, reflecting respect and friendliness.
Values, on the other hand, are the deeply held beliefs that shape an individual's or group's priorities and decisions. They represent what is important to people, such as honesty, freedom, or family. Values often inform norms, as they provide the underlying principles that drive behavior and social expectations.
