Norma McCorvey
Norma McCorvey was an American woman best known for her role in the landmark Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States. Born on September 22, 1947, in Louisiana, she became pregnant and sought an abortion in the early 1970s, but Texas law prohibited it. McCorvey, under the pseudonym Jane Roe, challenged the law, leading to a historic ruling in 1973.
Despite her pivotal role in the case, McCorvey never had an abortion. Later in life, she became a pro-life advocate, surprising many who had followed her story. She passed away on February 18, 2017, leaving a complex legacy in the ongoing debate over reproductive rights.
