Nonionic Agents
Nonionic agents are a type of surfactant that do not carry any electrical charge. They are commonly used in various applications, including detergents, emulsifiers, and wetting agents. Because they are nonionic, these agents are less sensitive to changes in pH and salinity, making them effective in a wide range of environments.
These agents help to reduce surface tension, allowing liquids to spread more easily. Nonionic agents are often preferred in formulations where mildness is important, such as in personal care products and pharmaceuticals. Examples include polysorbates and sorbitan esters, which are widely used for their stabilizing properties.
