Noble Sissle
Noble Sissle was an American musician, composer, and bandleader, born on July 10, 1889, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is best known for his contributions to the genre of jazz and for his work in the early 20th-century musical theater. Sissle gained fame as a member of the Eubie Blake and Noble Sissle band, which played a significant role in popularizing ragtime music.
Sissle's most notable work includes the musical Shuffle Along, which premiered in 1921 and was one of the first successful all-Black musicals on Broadway. His compositions, including the famous song "I’m Just Wild About Harry," have left a lasting impact on American music and continue to be celebrated today.
