NoDAPL
The NoDAPL movement, short for "No Dakota Access Pipeline," emerged in 2016 in response to the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Activists, including many from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, opposed the pipeline due to concerns about environmental impacts and the potential contamination of water sources, particularly the Missouri River.
Protests took place at the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota, drawing attention to issues of indigenous rights and environmental justice. The movement gained national and international support, highlighting the importance of protecting sacred lands and advocating for sustainable energy practices.
