Nimitz Class
The Nimitz Class is a class of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers used by the United States Navy. Named after Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, these ships are among the largest warships in the world, measuring about 1,092 feet in length. They can carry over 60 aircraft and are designed to support various military operations, including air defense, strike missions, and humanitarian assistance.
Each Nimitz Class carrier is equipped with advanced technology, including radar systems and nuclear propulsion, allowing them to operate for long periods without refueling. The class includes ten ships, with the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) being the lead ship, commissioned in 1975.
