Nilgiri tahr
The Nilgiri tahr is a mountain goat species native to the rugged hills of the Nilgiri Hills in southern India. It has a stocky build, with a short, thick coat that varies in color from brown to gray. These animals are well-adapted to steep, rocky terrains and are often found at elevations between 1,200 and 2,600 meters.
This species is herbivorous, primarily feeding on grasses, shrubs, and herbs. The Nilgiri tahr is classified as vulnerable due to habitat loss and hunting pressures. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations and preserve their natural habitat in the Western Ghats.
