Nikolaus (Saint)
Nikolaus, also known as Saint Nicholas, was a 4th-century bishop of Myra, in present-day Turkey. He is celebrated for his generosity and kindness, particularly towards children and the poor. Many legends surround his life, including the story of him secretly providing dowries for three impoverished sisters, which helped them avoid a life of servitude.
His feast day is observed on December 6, and he is considered the inspiration for Santa Claus. Over the centuries, Saint Nicholas has become a symbol of giving and compassion, with various cultures incorporating his legacy into their holiday traditions.
