Nike Davies-Okundaye
Nike Davies-Okundaye is a renowned Nigerian artist and cultural entrepreneur, celebrated for her contributions to the traditional art of Adire fabric dyeing. Born in 1951 in Ogidi, Nigeria, she has dedicated her life to preserving and promoting this unique textile art form, which involves intricate patterns and designs created using indigo dye.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Nike is the founder of the Nike Art Gallery in Lagos, one of the largest art galleries in Nigeria. The gallery showcases a wide range of Nigerian art, including paintings, sculptures, and textiles, and serves as a platform for emerging artists to gain recognition and support.
