Nifedipine
Nifedipine is a medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure and certain types of chest pain, known as angina. It belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers, which work by relaxing the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily. This helps to lower blood pressure and reduce the workload on the heart.
In addition to hypertension and angina, Nifedipine may also be prescribed for conditions like Raynaud's phenomenon, where blood flow to the fingers and toes is restricted. It is usually taken in capsule or extended-release tablet form, and patients should follow their healthcare provider's instructions for dosage and usage.
