Nicolas Flamel
Nicolas Flamel was a French scribe and manuscript-seller born around 1330. He is best known for his association with alchemy and the legendary Philosopher's Stone, which is said to grant immortality and turn base metals into gold. Flamel's name became famous in literature and folklore, often linked to the pursuit of eternal life.
Despite his legendary status, there is little historical evidence to support the claims about his alchemical achievements. Flamel lived a modest life and passed away in 1418. His story has been popularized in various works, including the Harry Potter series, where he is depicted as a character who created the Philosopher's Stone.
