New York Film Critics Circle
The New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) is an organization of film critics based in New York City. Founded in 1935, it is one of the oldest film critic groups in the United States. The NYFCC is known for its annual awards, which recognize outstanding achievements in film, including categories like Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.
Each December, the NYFCC holds a voting meeting to select the winners of its awards. The results are often seen as a precursor to the Academy Awards and can influence the awards season. The circle consists of prominent critics from various media outlets, contributing to its respected status in the film industry.
