New World Computing
New World Computing was a video game development company founded in 1984 by Jon Van Caneghem. The company is best known for creating the popular Heroes of Might and Magic series, which combined elements of strategy and role-playing games. Their games gained a loyal following for their engaging gameplay and rich fantasy settings.
In 1996, New World Computing was acquired by The 3DO Company, which helped expand its reach in the gaming market. Despite its success, the company faced challenges in the late 1990s and eventually ceased operations in 2003. The legacy of its games continues to influence the strategy genre today.
