New Religious Movement
A New Religious Movement (NRM) refers to a spiritual or religious group that has emerged relatively recently, often within the last few centuries. These movements can vary widely in beliefs, practices, and organizational structures, and they may draw from existing religious traditions or create entirely new frameworks. NRMs often arise in response to social, cultural, or spiritual needs that are not met by established religions.
NRMs can include a diverse range of groups, such as Scientology, the Bahá'í Faith, and Wicca. While some NRMs may gain significant followings and recognition, others remain small and localized. The study of NRMs helps scholars understand the dynamics of belief, community, and the evolving nature of spirituality in contemporary society.
