New Progressive Party
The New Progressive Party (NPP) is a political party in Puerto Rico that advocates for statehood for the island. Founded in 1967, the party promotes the idea that becoming the 51st state of the United States would provide greater political representation and economic benefits for Puerto Ricans.
The NPP has historically been one of the two dominant parties in Puerto Rican politics, alongside the Popular Democratic Party. The party's platform includes issues such as economic development, education reform, and public safety, all aimed at improving the quality of life for residents of Puerto Rico.
