Nevus Flammeus
Nevus Flammeus, commonly known as a port-wine stain, is a type of birthmark characterized by a flat, pink, red, or purple mark on the skin. It results from an overabundance of capillaries near the surface of the skin. These marks can appear anywhere on the body and vary in size and shape. They are usually present at birth and do not fade over time.
While Nevus Flammeus is generally harmless, it can sometimes be associated with other medical conditions, such as Sturge-Weber syndrome. Treatment options, including laser therapy, are available for those who wish to reduce the appearance of the mark. However, many individuals choose to embrace their unique skin characteristics.
