Nerve Conduction Study
A Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) is a medical test that measures how well electrical signals travel through the nerves. During the test, small electrodes are placed on the skin over the nerve, and a mild electrical impulse is applied. The speed and strength of the nerve's response are recorded, helping doctors assess nerve function.
NCS is commonly used to diagnose conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and other nerve-related disorders. The test is non-invasive and typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes, providing valuable information for treatment planning and management of nerve issues.
