Neopanamax vessels
Neopanamax vessels are large container ships designed to fit the expanded locks of the Panama Canal, which were completed in 2016. These ships can carry significantly more cargo than their predecessors, known as Panamax vessels, allowing for increased efficiency in global shipping.
Typically, Neopanamax vessels measure up to 1,200 feet in length and can hold around 14,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Their larger size enables shipping companies to transport goods more economically, reducing the cost per container and improving supply chain logistics across international trade routes.
