Nebraska Legislature
The Nebraska Legislature is the unicameral legislative body of the state of Nebraska. It consists of 49 members, known as senators, who are elected to serve four-year terms. The Legislature meets annually in Lincoln, the state capital, to discuss and pass laws, as well as to address the state budget and other important issues.
Unique to Nebraska, the Legislature is the only unicameral state legislature in the United States, meaning it has a single chamber rather than two. This structure aims to promote efficiency and transparency in the legislative process, allowing for more direct communication between senators and their constituents.
