Nawab of Rampur
The Nawab of Rampur was a title held by the rulers of the princely state of Rampur in India during the British Raj. This state was established in the 18th century and was known for its rich cultural heritage, including contributions to music, literature, and architecture. The Nawabs were patrons of the arts and played a significant role in the development of the region.
The last Nawab, Mohammad Ali Jah, ruled until 1947 when India gained independence. Following this, Rampur became part of the Indian Union, and the title of Nawab became largely ceremonial. Today, the legacy of the Nawabs is preserved through various institutions and cultural events in Rampur.
