Nats
Nats, short for natty, are small flying insects belonging to the family Ceratopogonidae. They are often found in damp or marshy areas and are known for their biting behavior. Nats are typically active during warm months and can be a nuisance to humans and animals due to their tendency to swarm.
These insects are usually less than 1/8 inch long and have slender bodies with long legs and wings. Nats play a role in the ecosystem as pollinators and as a food source for various predators, including birds and bats. Their presence can indicate healthy wetland environments.
