National Rural Livelihoods Mission
The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at reducing poverty in rural areas. Launched in 2011, it focuses on promoting self-employment and organization of rural poor into self-help groups (SHGs). The mission seeks to enhance livelihood opportunities through skill development, financial inclusion, and access to markets.
NRLM emphasizes sustainable livelihoods by providing support for various sectors, including agriculture, animal husbandry, and handicrafts. It aims to empower marginalized communities, particularly women, by facilitating their participation in economic activities. The mission works in collaboration with state governments and local organizations to achieve its goals.
