National Provisional Ruling Council
The National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC) was a military government in Ghana that came to power after a coup in December 1981. It was led by Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings, who aimed to address issues like corruption and economic instability. The NPRC ruled until 1992, implementing various reforms and policies during its tenure.
Under the NPRC, Ghana experienced significant changes, including the introduction of a new constitution. The council's governance style was characterized by a mix of military authority and attempts at democratic processes, ultimately leading to the establishment of a multi-party system in the country.
