National Park System
The National Park System is a collection of protected areas in the United States, established to preserve the natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage of the country. Managed by the National Park Service (NPS), the system includes over 400 sites, such as national parks, monuments, and historic sites, which offer recreational opportunities and educational programs for visitors.
The first national park, Yellowstone National Park, was created in 1872, setting a precedent for conservation efforts. Today, the National Park System aims to protect diverse ecosystems and provide a space for public enjoyment, ensuring that future generations can experience the wonders of nature.
