National Institute of Technology
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) is a group of autonomous public technical and research universities located across India. Established to promote higher education in engineering and technology, NITs offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields. They are known for their rigorous academic standards and are recognized as some of the top engineering institutions in the country.
NITs were established in 2002, evolving from earlier regional engineering colleges. Each NIT is linked to the Ministry of Education and follows a common admission process through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. The institutes aim to foster innovation and research, contributing significantly to India's technological advancement.
