National Energy Act
The National Energy Act is a U.S. law enacted in 1978 aimed at promoting energy conservation and reducing dependence on foreign oil. It includes provisions for energy efficiency in buildings, the development of renewable energy sources, and the regulation of energy prices. The act was part of a broader response to the 1970s energy crisis.
This legislation established programs to encourage the use of alternative energy, such as solar and wind power, and provided incentives for energy-saving technologies. It also created the Energy Research and Development Administration to oversee energy-related research and promote innovation in the energy sector.
