The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) is one of the two houses of the Parliament of South Africa. It represents the nine provinces of South Africa and ensures that provincial interests are considered in national legislation. Each province is represented by six delegates, including a permanent delegate and five special delegates.
The NCOP plays a crucial role in the law-making process, particularly for legislation that affects provinces. It also oversees the implementation of national policies at the provincial level and facilitates cooperation between the national and provincial governments, promoting effective governance across the country.
