National Council for Peace and Order
The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) was a military junta that took control of Thailand in May 2014 after a coup d'état. It was established to restore order following political turmoil and protests. The NCPO was led by General Prayuth Chan-o-cha, who became the Prime Minister. The council aimed to implement reforms and stabilize the country.
The NCPO governed Thailand until elections were held in March 2019, which marked the return to civilian rule. During its time in power, the council imposed various policies and restrictions, including limitations on political activities and freedom of expression, to maintain control and order.
