National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) is an organization that accredits teacher preparation programs in the United States. Established in 1954, its primary goal is to ensure that educators are well-prepared to meet the needs of diverse learners. NCATE sets rigorous standards for quality and effectiveness in teacher education.
In 2013, NCATE merged with the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) to form the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). This new organization continues to focus on improving educator preparation through accreditation, research, and collaboration with various stakeholders in the education field.
