National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics
The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) was established in 1915 to oversee and promote aeronautical research in the United States. It played a crucial role in advancing aviation technology and safety by conducting experiments and providing guidance to the government and industry. NACA's work laid the foundation for modern aeronautics and contributed to significant developments in aircraft design and performance.
In 1958, NACA was dissolved and its functions were transferred to the newly formed National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This transition marked a shift in focus from purely aeronautical research to include space exploration, reflecting the growing importance of space technology in the post-war era.
