Nasal Structures
The nasal structures are the components of the nose that play a crucial role in the respiratory system. They include the external nose, nasal cavity, and sinuses. The external nose consists of the bridge, tip, and nostrils, while the nasal cavity is lined with mucous membranes that help filter, warm, and humidify the air we breathe.
Inside the nasal cavity, there are structures called turbinates, which are bony shelves that increase the surface area for air contact. The sinuses are air-filled spaces connected to the nasal cavity, helping to reduce skull weight and enhance voice resonance.
