Nannaya
Nannaya, also known as Nannayya Bhattaraka, was a prominent Telugu poet from the 11th century. He is best known for his translation of the epic Sanskrit text, the Mahabharata, into Telugu, making it accessible to a wider audience. His work laid the foundation for Telugu literature and established him as one of the earliest poets in the language.
Nannaya is often referred to as the "Adi Kavi" or the first poet of Telugu literature. His contributions not only enriched the language but also inspired future poets, including Tikkana and Yerrapragada, who continued the translation of the Mahabharata. His legacy remains significant in the cultural history of Andhra Pradesh.
