Nancy Holt
Nancy Holt was an American artist known for her work in land art and environmental art. Born on April 5, 1938, in Worcester, Massachusetts, she gained recognition for her large-scale outdoor installations that often interacted with the landscape. One of her most famous works is Sun Tunnels, created in 1976, which consists of four large concrete tubes arranged in an open desert in Utah.
Holt was also a filmmaker and writer, exploring themes of perception and the relationship between humans and nature. Throughout her career, she collaborated with other artists, including her husband, Robert Smithson, and contributed significantly to the Earth Art movement. Holt passed away on February 8, 2014, leaving a lasting impact on contemporary art.
