Nanakshahi_Calendar
The Nanakshahi Calendar is a solar calendar used primarily by the Sikh community. It was introduced in 2003 to standardize the dates of Sikh festivals and events, aligning them with the solar year rather than the lunar cycles used in other calendars. The calendar is named after Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, and marks the beginning of the year on Chet 1, which usually falls in March.
The Nanakshahi Calendar consists of 12 months, each with a fixed number of days, totaling 365 days in a common year and 366 in a leap year. This calendar helps Sikhs celebrate important dates, such as the birthdays of Guru Nanak and other Sikh Gurus, ensuring consistency in observance across the global Sikh community.
