NGC_1980
NGC_1980 is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Orion. It is situated near the famous Orion Nebula and is part of the larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. The cluster contains several young stars that are still in the process of formation.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1786, NGC 1980 is approximately 1,500 light-years away from Earth. It is notable for its bright stars, which are primarily of spectral types B and A, indicating they are relatively hot and young. The cluster is often studied for insights into stellar evolution and the dynamics of star formation.
