NGC 7246
NGC 7246 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Pavo. It is approximately 60 million light-years away from Earth and is part of the Southern Hemisphere sky. This galaxy is notable for its distinct spiral arms and bright central bar structure, which are characteristic features of barred spiral galaxies.
Discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834, NGC 7246 is classified as a type SBc galaxy. It has a relatively low surface brightness, making it less prominent than other galaxies. Observations of NGC 7246 contribute to our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution in the universe.
