NGC 6905
NGC 6905 is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Delphinus. It is approximately 3,000 light-years away from Earth and is known for its striking blue color, which is a result of the ionization of gases surrounding a dying star. The nebula has a distinct oval shape and is often referred to as the "Blue Flash Nebula."
Discovered by William Herschel in 1784, NGC 6905 is a relatively small nebula, measuring about 1.5 light-years across. Its central star, which is in the late stages of its life cycle, emits intense ultraviolet radiation, causing the surrounding gas to glow. This makes NGC 6905 a fascinating object for astronomers studying stellar evolution.
