NGC 6611
NGC 6611 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Serpens. It is part of the Eagle Nebula and is approximately 6,000 light-years away from Earth. The cluster contains several young, massive stars and is known for its bright and colorful appearance, making it a popular target for astronomers.
Discovered by Jean Philippe de Chéseaux in 1746, NGC 6611 is often studied to understand stellar formation and evolution. The cluster is surrounded by a region of gas and dust, which contributes to the ongoing birth of new stars. Its age is estimated to be around 5.5 million years.
