NGC 6205, also known as the Hercules Cluster, is a globular star cluster located in the constellation Hercules. It is approximately 22,000 light-years away from Earth and is one of the brightest and most studied globular clusters in the night sky. NGC 6205 contains hundreds of thousands of stars, tightly packed together, and is estimated to be around 13 billion years old.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1788, NGC 6205 is notable for its high density of stars and its distinctive appearance. It is often observed by amateur astronomers and is a popular target for astrophotography due to its striking visual features. The cluster is best viewed during the summer months in the Northern Hemisphere.
