NGC 5008
NGC 5008 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 60 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. It is notable for its bright central bar structure and well-defined spiral arms, which are rich in star formation.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1789, NGC 5008 is classified as a type SBbc galaxy. It has an apparent magnitude of about 12.5, making it a faint object that requires a telescope to observe. The galaxy is part of the Hercules Cluster, which contains many other galaxies and is an interesting area for astronomical studies.
