NGC 4504
NGC 4504 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 60 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo. It is also known as the "Cigar Galaxy" due to its elongated shape. NGC 4504 is notable for its bright central bar structure and well-defined spiral arms, which are characteristic features of barred spiral galaxies.
Discovered by the astronomer William Herschel in 1784, NGC 4504 is part of the Virgo Cluster, a group of galaxies that includes many other notable members. The galaxy has a visual magnitude of about 12.5, making it a faint object that requires a telescope to observe.
