NGC 3605
NGC 3605 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 60 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. It is part of the Leo I Group, which contains several other galaxies. NGC 3605 has a diameter of about 50,000 light-years and is notable for its bright central region, which is home to a supermassive black hole.
Discovered by the astronomer William Herschel in 1784, NGC 3605 is classified as a type SBc galaxy, indicating its spiral structure with a prominent bar. Observations of this galaxy contribute to our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution, as well as the dynamics of galactic interactions.
