NGC 3351
NGC 3351, also known as Messier 95, is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Leo. It is approximately 35 million light-years away from Earth and has a diameter of about 100,000 light-years. NGC 3351 is notable for its well-defined bar structure and prominent spiral arms, making it a subject of interest for astronomers studying galaxy formation and evolution.
Discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781, NGC 3351 is part of the Leo I Group of galaxies. It contains a bright nucleus and shows signs of active star formation, particularly in its spiral arms. The galaxy is also home to several supernovae, which have been observed in recent years, contributing to our understanding of stellar life cycles.
