NGC 2546
NGC 2546 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Carina. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834 and is approximately 1,200 light-years away from Earth. The cluster contains around 50 stars and is estimated to be about 100 million years old.
The stars in NGC 2546 are relatively young and are primarily composed of hot, blue stars. The cluster spans about 20 light-years across and is situated in a region of the Milky Way that is rich in stellar formation. Its brightness makes it a popular target for amateur astronomers.
