NGC 2470
NGC 2470 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Camelopardalis. It is approximately 100 million light-years away from Earth and is part of the Maffei 1 Group of galaxies. NGC 2470 has a diameter of about 50,000 light-years and is characterized by its bright central bar structure and spiral arms.
Discovered by astronomer William Herschel in 1788, NGC 2470 is notable for its relatively high surface brightness, making it easier to observe with telescopes. The galaxy contains a mix of young and old stars, along with regions of active star formation, contributing to its dynamic appearance in the night sky.
