NGC 2407
NGC 2407 is a spiral galaxy located approximately 10 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Major. It is classified as a barred spiral galaxy, characterized by its distinct central bar structure and spiral arms that extend outward.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1786, NGC 2407 is part of the Messier catalog, which includes some of the most notable astronomical objects. The galaxy is relatively small compared to others, with a diameter of about 50,000 light-years, and it contains a mix of young and old stars, along with regions of active star formation.
