NGC 2149
NGC 2149 is a bright open cluster located in the constellation Monoceros, which is also known as the Unicorn. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834. This cluster is approximately 3,500 light-years away from Earth and contains several young stars that are still in the process of forming.
The cluster is notable for its relatively high concentration of stars, which are spread over a region of about 10 light-years in diameter. NGC 2149 is often studied by astronomers to understand the formation and evolution of star clusters in our galaxy, the Milky Way.
