NGC 2117
NGC 2117 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Monoceros, which is also known as the Unicorn. It was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1831. This cluster is approximately 3,000 light-years away from Earth and contains several bright stars that are relatively young, with ages estimated to be around 100 million years.
The cluster spans about 20 light-years across and is best observed with binoculars or small telescopes. NGC 2117 is part of a rich region of the sky filled with other celestial objects, making it an interesting target for amateur astronomers and stargazers alike.
