NGC 1982
NGC 1982 is an open star cluster located in the constellation of Orion. It is part of the larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex and is situated near the famous Orion Nebula. This cluster contains several young stars that are still in the process of formation, making it an interesting object for astronomers studying stellar evolution.
Discovered by John Herschel in 1831, NGC 1982 is approximately 1,500 light-years away from Earth. The cluster is relatively small, with a diameter of about 10 light-years. Its stars are primarily composed of hydrogen and helium, typical of young stellar populations, and they provide valuable insights into the dynamics of star formation in our galaxy.
